How to enjoy, serve and cook with Loukaniko Pitsilias PGI, Lountza Pitsilias PGI and Hiromeri Pitsilias PGI

These PGI products give great taste to our food and combine wonderfully with sauces, pasta, pies, pulses, soups and more. They also go great both raw and fried in various salads giving them a festive touch and adding an authentic taste of Cyprus to our plate. However, these PGI aged meats can be combined with cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables to accompany our alcoholic beverages such as wine and zivania.

Authentic Platter from Pitsilia region

Little secrets for the perfect charcuterie platter (Lountza Pitsilias, Loukaniko Pitsilias, Hiromeri Pitsilias PGI)

For a successful dinner welcome, our aged cold meats can be the protagonists of an attractive set. They go well with any type of cheese and harmoniously accompany wine. We choose thinly sliced or diced cold meats. To complete our serving plate, we fill the gaps with fresh fruit such as grapes, strawberries, pomegranate, but also figs or pears. Dried fruits may also blend well with these PGI products such as raisins, figs or dates. Nuts such as hazelnuts, walnuts or almonds that thrive in the Pitsilia region complete our plate with their crunchy texture and earthy taste. We can also put some bowls with sweet jams. The red fruit jams are delicious with their contrast to the strong-tasting PGI aged meats of Pitsilia, but also to Cypriot cheeses such as halloumi PDO and mature kefalotiri.

If we still don't prefer fruit, we can decorate our plate with vegetable sticks, such as carrot and cucumber. Add cherry tomatoes along with lettuce leaves and sprinkle with drops of balsamic vinegar if desired for extra flavor, color, and aroma. We can also add Cypriot olives, which will complement our ensemble nicely.

Combining with Alcoholic Beverages

Combinations of Pitsilias PGI cold cuts with alcoholic beverages

We choose dry red wines, but also rosés, both fresh and aged in a barrel, always considering their balance and quality. A red wine goes best with aged meats such as Lountza Pitsilias PGI, Hiromeri Pitsilias PGI Loukaniko Pitsilias PGI which have a strong smoky and spicy flavor from the wood but also the spices and wine used in their preparation.

Lountza Pitsilias PGI: red or rosé Maratheftiko, red or rosé from the variety Mavro, Pinot Noir.
